Borgogna
Domaine Romanee Conti
BORGOGNA
The Vosne-Romanée area is home to one of the world’s most famous and valuable Maisons, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, which dates back to the 13th century. The estate is mainly composed of Pinot Noir vineyards, flanked by a small Chardonnay parcel. The winery is characterised by biodynamic production techniques, mostly manual processing and exceptionally low yields, as the grapes from three different vines are required to produce a single bottle.
Wines:
Montrachet, Romanée-Conti, La Tache, Richebourg, Grands Echezeaux, Romanée Saint Vivant.
Domaine Leroy
BORGOGNA
Madame Lalou Bize Leroy is the undisputed queen of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, reflecting the excellence of the Côte-d’Or. There are nine Grand Crus, recognisable by their typical red wax capsule, and eight Premier Crus, characterized by their typical white capsule. The productions follows strict rules both in the vineyards and in the cellar, including fertilization with manure in the vineyard using appropriate techniques to keep the soil airy.
Wines:
Corton Charlemagne, Chambertin, Musigny, Clos Vougeot, Richebourg
Comte Liger Belair
BORGOGNA
The Domaine Ligier-Belair has belonged to the Ligier-Belair family since the 18th century, but it was Viscount Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, an agricultural engineer and enologist, who decided in the 2000s to resume the cultivation of the estate’s vines. Currently, he exploits 8.7 hectares of vineyards in Vosne-Romanee, Nuits, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Flagey-Echézeaux, following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture.
Wines:
Vosne Romanée, Vosne Romanée 1er Cru Aux Cras, Vosne Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots, La Romanée Grand Cru, Echezeaux Grand Cru.
Domaine Armand Rosseau
BORGOGNA
Domaine Armand Rousseau is now run by Eric, son of Charles Rousseau, together with his daughter. The estate covers over 15 hectares, composed entirely of Pinot Noir, more than half of which are Grand Cru plots. The average age of the vines is 45 years and the maximum production can reach 65,000 bottles spread over 11 different wines. The winemaking methods have remained essentially unchanged since the origins: the vines are cared for with great attention and are subject to meticulous controls. The same rigour is followed during fermentation, leading to the ideal complexity and maturation for producing a wine of excellent quality.
Wines:
Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Ruchottes-Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, Mazy Chambertin
